The Atlanta Falcons continued shaping the future of the franchise with a series of major announcements, highlighted by a new contract extension for All-Pro running back Bijan Robinson, the signing of veteran defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu and several additions to the club’s football operations and scouting departments.
Falcons Reward Bijan Robinson with Three-Year Extension
The biggest news of the day came as the Falcons officially signed running back Bijan Robinson to a three-year contract extension, ensuring one of the NFL’s most dynamic offensive playmakers remains in Atlanta for years to come.
Since being selected eighth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Texas, Robinson has quickly established himself as one of the league’s elite dual-threat running backs.
In just three seasons, Robinson has rushed for 3,910 yards and 25 touchdowns while adding another 1,738 receiving yards and nine receiving scores through the air.
His versatility has placed him among some of the greatest running backs in league history. Robinson is one of only two players in NFL history to record at least 55 receptions and 1,450 scrimmage yards in each of his first three seasons, joining Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson.
Even more impressive, Robinson has surpassed 100 scrimmage yards in 29 games since entering the league in 2023—the most by any NFL player during that span and tied for the third-most through a player’s first three seasons in NFL history.
His 2025 campaign was nothing short of spectacular.
Starting all 17 games, Robinson rushed for 1,478 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He also hauled in 79 receptions for 820 yards and four receiving touchdowns, finishing the season with a franchise-record 2,298 yards from scrimmage.
That total ranks as the 12th-highest single-season scrimmage yardage total in NFL history and second among all active players.
Robinson also etched his name into the Falcons record books with a franchise-long 93-yard touchdown run while earning two NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors, NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September, First-Team All-Pro recognition, Second-Team All-Pro honors as an all-purpose player and his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection.
With the extension now complete, Atlanta has secured one of the cornerstones of its offense for the foreseeable future.
Falcons Add Defensive Line Depth
Atlanta also strengthened its defensive front by signing veteran defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu.
The former sixth-round draft pick has spent time with both the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, appearing in 33 career games while recording 48 tackles, three sacks, five tackles for loss, four quarterback hits and a fumble recovery.
The former USC standout brings additional depth and experience to the Falcons’ defensive line rotation heading into the season.
In a corresponding roster move, Atlanta placed outside linebacker DeAngelo Malone on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
Falcons Expand Football Operations Staff
Off the field, the Falcons announced several additions to their football operations department, highlighted by the return of franchise legend Todd McClure.
McClure has been hired as the club’s Coordinator of Player Development and Senior Personnel Assistant.
A member of the Falcons Ring of Honor, McClure spent 14 seasons anchoring Atlanta’s offensive line, appearing in 198 games while setting the franchise record with 144 consecutive starts between 2001 and 2010.
In his new role, McClure will help oversee player development initiatives while assisting football leadership on strategic personnel projects.
Atlanta also announced several additional personnel hires:
- Frank Wintrich joins the organization as Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning after an extensive career in collegiate athletics, the U.S. Army and the Department of Justice.
- Daniel Clements has been hired as a BLESTO Scout following stops at Texas, Texas A&M and West Virginia.
- Kevin Melore has been promoted to Area Scout after previously serving as a scouting assistant with the Falcons.
- Keith Earle Jr. joins Atlanta as an Area Scout after spending five seasons in the Chicago Bears organization.
- Justin Hickman arrives as National Scout following previous scouting roles with the New England Patriots, XFL and CFL.
- Max Blank returns to Atlanta as a Scouting Assistant after spending the past two seasons working in the NFL League Office.
