Angel Reese Named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese has been named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, adding another honor to what has been a historic stretch for the three-time All-Star.

Reese was also named AP Player of the Week a day earlier. The WNBA honor is her first with the Atlanta Dream and the third Player of the Week award of her three-year career.

Reese helped power Atlanta to a perfect 3-0 week with road wins over the Las Vegas Aces on Aug. 18, Los Angeles Sparks on Aug. 20 and Phoenix Mercury on Aug. 22.

During that stretch, Reese averaged 24.0 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.7 steals per game, while shooting an impressive 67.4% from the field. She recorded a double-double in all three contests.

The week began with Reese posting her 24th double-double of the season in Atlanta’s 97-82 win over Las Vegas.

She followed that performance with one of the most efficient games in Dream history against Los Angeles, going a perfect 9-for-9 from the field and setting a new franchise record for the most made field goals without a miss.

Reese also became the first player in WNBA history to record at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists while shooting 100% from the field.

During the same stretch, she set the WNBA single-season offensive rebounds record and recorded her league-leading 25th double-double.

Reese saved her biggest scoring performance of the week for Phoenix.

She erupted for a career-high 31 points and 14 rebounds in Atlanta’s 99-89 win over the Mercury, helping the Dream officially clinch a spot in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs.

The performance marked Reese’s third consecutive game with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds. She also became just the third player in WNBA history to record at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in three straight games, joining A’ja Wilson and Nneka Ogwumike.

Reese finished the award period with her league-leading 26th double-double of the season.

She becomes the second Dream player to earn Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors this season, joining teammate and USA Basketball World Cup selection Rhyne Howard. Reese is also the 12th player in Atlanta Dream franchise history to receive the award.

And she did not slow down once the award period ended.

Reese followed up the honor with another record-breaking performance Monday night against Los Angeles, pulling down a WNBA-record 26 rebounds while surpassing Wilson’s previous single-season rebounding record of 451.

That performance helped Atlanta complete a 4-0 road trip for the first time in franchise history.

With the playoffs approaching, Reese is putting together some of the best basketball of her career at exactly the right time — and continuing to add her name to both the Dream and WNBA record books.
