Falcons Lock Down Kyle Pitts with Three-Year Extension

The Atlanta Falcons made a major commitment to one of their biggest offensive weapons, announcing Tuesday that they have signed tight end Kyle Pitts to a new three-year contract.

The extension keeps Pitts in Atlanta after the former first-round pick turned in the best season of his career in 2025, reestablishing himself as one of the NFL’s premier tight ends.

Originally selected with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Florida, Pitts has lived up to the expectations that came with being one of the highest-drafted tight ends in league history. Through five seasons, he has appeared in 78 games, making 72 starts while totaling 284 receptions for 3,579 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.

The Philadelphia native already ranks 13th in franchise history in receiving yards and fourth all-time among Falcons tight ends.

Pitts earned Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2025 after posting career-best numbers across the board. He hauled in 88 receptions for 928 yards and five touchdowns while starting all 17 games. He also led Atlanta in both receptions and receiving yards for the second time in his career.

One of the most impressive stretches of Pitts’ season came late in the year when he recorded at least six receptions in four consecutive games from Weeks 13 through 16, matching the longest such streak by any NFL tight end during the 2025 season.

His historic campaign also placed him in elite company. Pitts became the first tight end in Falcons history to record multiple 900-yard receiving seasons, accomplishing the feat in both 2021 and 2025. He also joined Falcons legend Tony Gonzalez as the only tight ends in franchise history to record at least 80 receptions in a season.

Pitts also delivered one of the most memorable performances of the season during Atlanta’s Thursday Night Football victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He became just the second player in NFL history to finish a Thursday night game with at least 10 receptions, 150 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

His impact was immediate from the moment he entered the league.

As a rookie in 2021, Pitts earned his first Pro Bowl selection after catching 68 passes for 1,026 yards. He broke Julio Jones’ franchise rookie receiving yardage record and became just the second rookie tight end in NFL history to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards, joining Hall of Famer Mike Ditka.

His 163-yard performance in Week 7 remains one of the best games ever by a rookie tight end, and he also became only the second rookie at the position to record back-to-back 100-yard receiving games.

With Pitts now under contract for three more seasons, the Falcons have secured one of the league’s most dynamic playmakers as they continue building an offense around their core talent. After a breakout 2025 campaign, Atlanta is betting Pitts’ best football is still ahead.
