Atlanta, GA – The Atlanta Dream have officially finalized their 2025 training camp roster, setting the stage for a transformative season filled with championship-caliber talent, fresh leadership, and high expectations. Training camp will run from April 27 through May 15 at the Core4 Athletic Complex, as the team prepares to write the next chapter in its evolution.
Following one of the most impactful offseasons in franchise history, the Dream’s roster is now headlined by 10-time WNBA All-Star and Olympic gold medalist Brittney Griner, who signed with Atlanta in a blockbuster move that sent shockwaves across the league. Her arrival, along with the acquisitions of 3-time All-Star Brionna Jones and 2024 WNBA Sixth Player of the Year runner-up Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, marks a historic free agency class that has firmly positioned the Dream as contenders in 2025.
Rookies Ready to Rise
The Dream also added fresh firepower through the 2025 WNBA Draft, selecting National Champion Te-Hina Paopao out of South Carolina and dynamic Ohio State wing Taylor Thierry. Both rookies bring championship experience, versatility, and a competitive edge that aligns perfectly with Atlanta’s reimagined culture. The two will be key figures to watch as they battle for impactful roles throughout camp.
Training camp contracts have also been extended to Ashley Joens, Maria Gakdeng, and Emani Jefferson, offering each a valuable opportunity to compete for a spot on the final roster and bring added depth to an already loaded squad.
A New Era Under Coach Smesko
This training camp also signals a new beginning on the sidelines with the arrival of head coach Karl Smesko, one of the most respected tactical minds in women’s basketball. Known for his innovative, efficient offenses and disciplined defensive approach, Smesko will bring a new identity to the Dream built on precision, spacing, and high-IQ play. His transition to the WNBA is highly anticipated, and all eyes will be on how he molds this elite talent into a cohesive unit.
Star-Powered Core Returns
Atlanta’s strong returning core provides a stable foundation for the new additions. Jordin Canada, Rhyne Howard, and Allisha Gray headline a group of returners who played instrumental roles in the Dream’s 2024 resurgence. Nia Coffey, Naz Hillmon, Haley Jones, and Maya Caldwell round out a group that blends veteran savvy with rising potential.
Looking Ahead
The Dream open their 2025 campaign with a two-game road trip before making their highly anticipated return to State Farm Arena on May 22, where they’ll face the Indiana Fever in their home opener. With a reloaded roster, a championship mindset, and a new coaching vision, Atlanta fans can expect a season filled with intensity, growth, and excitement.
