Hawks Fall 108–105 to Knicks; Set Sights on Cavs Back-to-Back

 

The Atlanta Hawks came up just short at State Farm Arena on Monday night, falling 108–105 to the New York Knicks in a tightly contested battle that featured 11 lead changes and 8 ties.

The Hawks (45–34) kept pace throughout the night but were edged in the fourth quarter as the Knicks (51–28) closed strong behind efficient scoring and key plays down the stretch. Atlanta held a halftime lead, 57–53, after outscoring New York in the second quarter, but the Knicks regained momentum in the third, outpacing the Hawks 28–22 to take control heading into the final period.

Atlanta was led by Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who delivered a standout performance with 36 points on 12-of-19 shooting, including seven made threes. Jalen Johnson added 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Onyeka Okongwu contributed 12 points, eight rebounds, and strong interior presence on both ends. Dyson Daniels also made an impact across the board, finishing with 12 rebounds, three assists, and defensive activity throughout.

For New York, Jalen Brunson paced the offense with 13 points and 13 assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns posted a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. OG Anunoby added 16 points, and Mitchell Robinson dominated the glass with 12 rebounds off the bench.

Atlanta struggled at times in the paint, where the Knicks held a 52–34 advantage in points, helping tilt the balance in a game that remained within reach until the final minutes. Despite the loss, the Hawks showed resilience, trading leads and staying competitive against one of the East’s top teams.

Now, Atlanta turns the page quickly with a key road test ahead. The Hawks travel to Cleveland for a back-to-back set against the Cavaliers, beginning tomorrow, before returning home for their final regular-season meeting with Cleveland on Friday, April 10 at 7:00 PM.
