The Atlanta Hawks made a roster move aimed at adding frontcourt depth and future flexibility, acquiring center Duop Reath and two second-round draft picks from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for forward Vit Krejci.
Reath joins Atlanta after appearing in 32 games for Portland this season, providing steady minutes off the bench. Across his three-year NBA career, the 6-foot-9 center has carved out a role as a reliable interior presence, bringing size, physicality, and international experience to the Hawks’ frontcourt rotation.
Reath’s path to the NBA has been anything but traditional. Born in South Sudan and raised in Australia, he’s logged five seasons overseas, competing across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. His résumé includes championship runs in Serbia, where he captured both Serbian League and Adriatic League titles with KK Crvena Zvezda in 2021.
On the international stage, Reath has represented Australia in back-to-back Olympic Games, earning a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics and suiting up again in Paris in 2024 — where he shared the floor with current Hawks guard Dyson Daniels. That familiarity could help ease his transition into Atlanta’s locker room.
Before going pro, Reath spent two seasons at LSU, where he emerged as a dependable two-way big, showcasing touch around the rim and shot-blocking instincts.
Heading to Portland is Vit Krejci, who has been a steady contributor for Atlanta this season. Krejci appeared in 46 games, providing energy, ball movement, and versatility on the wing. Over five NBA seasons, he’s earned a reputation as a high-IQ role player capable of impacting the game in multiple ways.
For Atlanta, the move brings added size, global experience, and draft capital — signaling continued flexibility as the team shapes its roster moving forward.
