The College Park Skyhawks dropped the first game of a back-to-back, falling 122–100 to the Capital City Go-Go at Gateway Center Arena.
Atlanta Hawks two-way center Malik Williams led the way for College Park, finishing with 21 points, six rebounds, and a career-high tying six assists in just 26 minutes. It marked Williams’ sixth game this season (including the Tipoff Tournament) with 20 or more points, as he continues his strong start to the year. Through three regular-season games, Williams is averaging 18.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.
Javan Johnson followed with 13 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes, while Deivon Smith and MJ Walker chipped in 12 points apiece. Smith also dished out a team-high eight assists, helping steady the Skyhawks during key stretches.
Capital City set the tone early, opening the game on a 17–6 run and carrying that momentum throughout the first quarter. The Go-Go pushed their lead to as many as 17 points before taking a 13-point advantage into the second period.
College Park responded with its best stretch midway through the second quarter, trimming the deficit to single digits and pulling within four points. However, a late 10–2 surge by Capital City in the final minute sent the Skyhawks into halftime trailing 72–60.
The Skyhawks continued to fight coming out of the break, once again cutting the margin to single digits in the third quarter. Similar to the second period, the Go-Go closed strong, using another late run to seize control and head into the fourth quarter with their largest lead of the night, 98–80.
Capital City maintained its momentum in the final period to secure the win, led by second-year forward Akoldah Gak, who recorded a career-high 24 points, including 18 in the first half. Go-Go center Skal Labissière added 20 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Skyhawks will look to bounce back in the second game of the back-to-back when they face the Long Island Nets on Dec. 28 at 3 p.m., airing on NBA TV. College Park will then travel to take on the Birmingham Squadron in a two-game series on Dec. 30 and Jan. 1, with both games tipping off at 7 p.m.
