Ahead of tonight’s matchup against the Chicago Bulls at State Farm Arena, the Atlanta Hawks announced that the team has signed center Malik Williams to a two-way contract, bolstering the frontcourt as the regular season rolls on. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Williams has been one of the most productive big men in the NBA G League this season, starring for the College Park Skyhawks. In 14 games between the G League Tip-Off Tournament and the regular season, he’s posted career-high averages of 16.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks, while also contributing 1.5 assists in 24.6 minutes per game.
During the Tip-Off Tournament portion of the year, Williams averaged 16.1 points and 10.7 rebounds, putting him among just eight players in the G League to average at least 15 points and 10 rebounds in that early-season stretch. Over a 10-game span from Nov. 29 to Dec. 22, he secured seven double-doubles, including back-to-back outings with 20-plus points and 15-plus boards.
The 6-foot-11 center brings NBA experience, having appeared in seven games with the Toronto Raptors during the 2023–24 season, where he averaged 2.7 points and 5.4 rebounds in 15.3 minutes.
Across 100 career NBA G League games (75 starts) with Sioux Falls and College Park, Williams owns averages of 13.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 blocks in 24.6 minutes.
Undrafted in 2022 out of Louisville, Williams also played professionally in Poland for Anwil Włocławek during the 2022–23 season. In 31 games there, he averaged 8.1 points and 5.5 rebounds in 17.7 minutes.
Williams’ college career at Louisville spanned five seasons and 122 games (62 starts), where he averaged 7.2 points and 5.5 rebounds in 17.9 minutes. He made program history as the first three-year team captain and earned MVP honors at the 2021 Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship after a standout title-game performance.
This signing comes as the Hawks address depth in the frontcourt, with several bigs sidelined, and adds size and rebounding ability as Atlanta prepares to host the Bulls tonight.
Fans can catch the Hawks vs. Bulls game tonight at State Farm Arena as Atlanta looks to rebound and get back in the win column. Tipoff is set for 7:30 PM
