Hawks Overpower Wizards Behind Jalen Johnson’s Brilliance

The Atlanta Hawks delivered a strong 131–116 victory over the Washington Wizards on December 6, 2025—powered once again by the steady brilliance of Jalen Johnson. The third-year forward turned in another electric performance, finishing with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists, marking his second straight triple-double and setting the tone all night long.

Atlanta built a commanding lead early, but Washington made multiple pushes—including trimming the gap to single digits in the second half. Each time, Johnson’s playmaking and pace steadied the Hawks, helping them regain control.

C.J. McCollum did everything he could to keep the Wizards competitive. The veteran guard erupted for 28 points and seven three-pointers, continuing his personal hot streak against Atlanta after dropping 46 in their November 25 meeting. But this time, the Hawks were ready with answers—and a much more balanced team effort.

One of those answers came from Onyeka Okongwu, who supplied 21 points while anchoring Atlanta’s dominance inside. The Hawks overwhelmed Washington in the paint, posting a 70–42 scoring advantage and owning the glass with a 45–26 rebounding edge. Washington’s perimeter shooting was impressive, but they simply couldn’t overcome the interior mismatch.

The final push came from an unexpected source: Vít Krejčí, who knocked down timely fourth-quarter threes to fend off the Wizards’ last surge and help Atlanta close out the win.

With the victory, the Hawks improved to 14–11, avenging the loss in Washington just two weeks earlier. The Wizards, meanwhile, slipped to 3–19 as their defensive inconsistencies continued to haunt them.

The Hawks will continue their road trip on December 12 when they face the Detroit Pistons, before returning home to State Farm Arena on December 14 to host the Philadelphia 76ers.
