FALCONS FALL 37–9 TO SEAHAWKS- ANOTHER LOSS, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED

The Falcons fell 37–9 to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, closing out a long afternoon at Mercedes-Benz Stadium where early promise gave way to mistakes, missed opportunities, and a dominant Seattle surge in the second half.

The game opened as a grind-it-out defensive battle, with both teams exchanging short drives and heavy pressure. Atlanta struck first thanks to a balanced series fueled by Bijan Robinson’s early bursts and a smooth 20-yard completion to Kyle Pitts. Zane Gonzalez finished the drive with a 35-yard field goal to give the Falcons a 3–0 lead.

Seattle answered with a slow, methodical 12-play drive that tested Atlanta’s defense all the way to the 4-yard line. The Falcons held firm, forcing the Seahawks to settle for a field goal that tied the game at 3–3. Atlanta leaned on Robinson and Tyler Allgeier again in the second quarter, mixing the run and quick passes while Cousins found Pitts for a 30-yard gain to get back into scoring position. Though penalties stalled the drive, Gonzalez hit his second field goal—this one from 43 yards—pushing Atlanta ahead 6–3 with just over a minute left.

A huge defensive moment followed when A.J. Terrell helped set up Mike Hughes’ interception, giving the Falcons a chance to widen the lead. But the momentum slipped away when Seattle blocked a 50-yard field goal attempt. The Seahawks used the break to mount a final first-half drive, connecting on a 22-yard field goal as time expired to tie things at 6–6 heading into halftime.

The third quarter was where the game turned sharply. Kirk Cousins was intercepted near midfield early in the half, gifting the Seahawks prime field position. Seattle immediately capitalized, with Sam Darnold hitting Jaxon Smith-Njigba for back-to-back explosive plays, including a 28-yard touchdown to put the Seahawks up 20–6. Kaden Elliss went down during the play but later returned.

Atlanta attempted to respond, but another costly mistake derailed a promising drive when Robinson fumbled at Seattle’s 12-yard line. The Seahawks kept pushing, with Cooper Kupp breaking loose for a long gain and Jason Myers adding a 37-yard field goal to stretch the lead to 23–6.

The Falcons showed a spark late in the third quarter with chunk plays to Allgeier and Dylan Drummond that set up a 27-yard field goal as the quarter expired, trimming the deficit to 23–9. But it was Seattle that controlled every major moment from there.

The fourth quarter belonged entirely to the Seahawks. A 33-yard strike to Rashid Shaheed set up an 11-yard touchdown to Cooper Kupp, widening the gap to 30–9. The Falcons stalled again on their next possession, and Seattle quickly added another touchdown—this time another short strike to Smith-Njigba—to push the Seahawks ahead 37–9.

Atlanta never found a rhythm offensively after that. Another interception stopped one of their final drives, and Seattle continued to burn clock behind Zach Charbonnet and a sharp passing game. Special teams issues added to the frustration, with a late Seattle punt pinning the Falcons at their own 4-yard line. A short run and a few more stalled plays brought the game to its close.

The Falcons’ next home game is set for December 29, when they host the Los Angeles Rams at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Before returning home, Atlanta will hit the road for back-to-back matchups — first on December 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, followed by a December 21 showdown with the Arizona Cardinals.
