The Atlanta Falcons are making moves ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, officially signing wide receiver Deven Thompkins to the active roster from the practice squad. In a corresponding transaction, the team has placed safety DeMarcco Hellams on the Reserve/Injured list.
Thompkins, who first entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 out of Utah State, brings versatility and speed to Atlanta’s offense and special teams. Over two seasons with Tampa Bay (2022–23) and Carolina (2024), he appeared in 29 games with two starts, posting 26 receptions for 135 yards and one touchdown. He added another 89 yards on 12 rushing attempts, showcasing his ability to contribute in multiple ways.
In limited action with the Falcons this season as a standard practice-squad elevation, Thompkins has already flashed his playmaking ability—pulling in two receptions for 23 yards, rushing once for five yards, and returning four kicks for 79 yards. Before entering the NFL, the Fort Myers, Fla., native made his mark at Utah State, setting single-season school records for receptions (102) and receiving yards (1,704) during his standout 2021 senior campaign.
Atlanta also announced a second roster move, elevating cornerback C.J. Henderson from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against Seattle. This will be Henderson’s first standard practice-squad elevation of the season, giving the Falcons added depth in the secondary as they prepare for a crucial Week 14 matchup.
