Falcons Add Depth, But Urgency Grows as Team Sits at 3–5

The Atlanta Falcons made a pair of roster moves this week, signing offensive lineman Andrew Stueber to the active roster and long snapper Zach Triner to the practice squad. In corresponding moves, kickers Parker Romo and Ben Sauls were released.

While the additions bring needed depth to the offensive line and special teams, there’s a growing sense of urgency around Flowery Branch. The Falcons sit at 3–5, and as the season nears its midpoint, the margin for error is quickly shrinking.

Stueber, originally selected by the New England Patriots in the seventh round (245th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Michigan, brings size and experience to Atlanta’s offensive front. The 6-foot-7, 338-pound lineman has spent time with the Patriots, Falcons, and most recently the Cincinnati Bengals, where he appeared in seven games during the 2024 season. A native of Darien, Connecticut, Stueber was part of Michigan’s Joe Moore Award–winning offensive line, recognized as the nation’s best in 2021.

Meanwhile, Zach Triner joins the Falcons practice squad with veteran experience and leadership. Originally signed by the New York Jets in 2017, Triner has suited up for several teams — including the Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, and Seattle Seahawks. The Marshfield, Massachusetts native played both defensive end and long snapper at Assumption University after beginning his collegiate career as a lacrosse player at Siena College.

As Atlanta continues to search for consistency, these roster tweaks come at a pivotal time. The Falcons have shown flashes — particularly on defense and in the growing chemistry between Michael Penix Jr. and Drake London — but missed opportunities and slow starts have held them back.

The team knows it needs to find answers fast if it hopes to climb back into the playoff mix. The next two weeks will be crucial: the Falcons head to Berlin Germany on Sunday, November 9, to take on the Indianapolis Colts before returning home on Sunday, November 16, for their Salute to Service Game against the Carolina Panthers.

For Atlanta, it’s no longer just about adding depth — it’s about finding direction and urgency before the season slips away.
