Hawks Wrap Up Road Trip with 117–109 Loss to Cavaliers

The Atlanta Hawks wrapped up their four-game road trip with a 117–109 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Despite a strong push late, the Hawks couldn’t quite overcome Cleveland’s hot shooting and veteran presence down the stretch.

Donovan Mitchell made his return to the Cavaliers’ lineup in a big way, pouring in a season-high 37 points to lead all scorers and help Cleveland snap a two-game losing streak. Atlanta, playing short-handed without star guard Trae Young — who is expected to miss about a month with a right MCL sprain — leaned on its frontcourt to keep the game close.

Jalen Johnson once again stepped up in a big way, posting 23 points and 13 rebounds, showcasing his versatility and energy on both ends of the floor. Kristaps Porziņģis added another double-double with 15 points and 12 boards, anchoring the paint and providing a steady presence inside.

Cleveland controlled most of the game, using Mitchell’s scoring and timely contributions from Darius Garland and Evan Mobley to stay ahead. The Hawks showed fight throughout, but without their floor general, the offense struggled to find consistent rhythm in key moments.

The loss brings Atlanta’s road trip to a close, but they’ll now look to regroup back home. The Hawks return to State Farm Arena on Tuesday, November 4, to face the Orlando Magic — aiming to bounce back and defend their home court in front of the Atlanta faithful.
