Earlier today, ahead of the Atlanta Falcons’ joint practices with the Tennessee Titans, Head Coach Raheem Morris embraced the opportunity with a clear philosophy — sharpen competition, protect players, and maximize every teaching moment.
Morris said joint practices often bring “unscouted looks” and more complex schemes than typical preseason games, offering valuable preparation without the full wear and tear of live action. While the pace will be high, he emphasized that safety — particularly for quarterbacks — remains the top priority. “It’s controlled aggression,” Morris said. “We want that competitive edge, but we do it with professionalism.”
Players Making an Impression
Several Falcons have stood out early in camp. Safety DeMarco Hellams continues to set the tone with relentless energy in both practice and meetings. Linebacker Jalon Walker has impressed with strong run defense in recent game action, though Morris is challenging him to elevate his pass-rush production.
Defensive Identity Forming
Morris is installing an attack-style front — a scheme he has successfully used in previous stops — designed for adaptability and aggression. Early execution has been promising, with players fully buying into the system.
Respect for a Familiar Face
Morris also spoke warmly about his connection with former Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley, now with the Titans, praising his growth on and off the field and calling his success “well-earned.”
With two days of high-rep work ahead, the Falcons expect spirited battles against a physical AFC opponent. For Morris, it’s all part of building a team ready to compete deep into the season — one disciplined, hard-fought rep at a time.
The Atlanta Falcons continue their preseason Friday night when they face the Tennessee Titans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
