The Atlanta Dream have completed their 2025 coaching staff, adding Chelsea Lyles and Camryn Brown as assistant coaches under Head Coach Karl Smesko. They join Brandi Poole and LaToya Sanders, who were added in January.
Lyles and Brown come from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), where they worked under Smesko. Lyles, promoted to FGCU’s head coach for the 2024-25 season, led the Eagles to a 30-3 record, an undefeated ASUN Conference run, and their ninth straight ASUN Tournament title. She was named ASUN Coach of the Year. A former FGCU standout, Lyles earned two First Team All-ASUN selections before becoming a key figure in player development and recruiting.
Brown spent three seasons as an FGCU assistant after coaching at West Virginia State. As a player at High Point University, she earned Big South Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete honors.
“Chelsea has a great basketball mind and connects deeply with players,” said Smesko. “Her leadership will be a tremendous asset.”
Lyles expressed excitement about reuniting with Smesko and joining the Dream. “I’m eager to bring my passion and energy to a team committed to excellence.”
“Camryn brings energy, intelligence, and a strong work ethic,” Smesko added. “She will only strengthen our culture.”
Brown echoed the enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled to rejoin Coach Smesko in Atlanta and grow as a coach in the WNBA.”
With their experience and familiarity with Smesko’s system, Lyles and Brown are poised to help usher in a new era for the Dream.
