Trae-less Hawks Defeat Nuggets

Ahead of Friday’s game against the Nuggets, Atlanta’s was coming off of a 125-108 victory on Wednesday Nov 30, the Hawks scored their 125 points on .543% shooting from the floor (51-94), the club’s second- highest FG% in a single game this season. Atlanta held Orlando to a .296 clip from three-point territory (8-27 3FG) .

In the 1st quarter the Hawks led by 2 points.

At the half the Atlanta Hawks led 60-46 against Denver.

 

Denver began to speed the pace of the game during the 3rd quarter. Denver was able to close out the deficit and tie the score 75-75.
Atlanta gain some momentum and was able to pull away and lead by two points. At the end of the quarter the Hawks led 90-81.

 

Bogdan Bogdanovic recovered from knee surgery and returned back for the first time this season to loud chants and a standing ovation from the ATL fans.

Bogdanovic netted five points, two rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes.

As expected Nuggets Nikola Jokic brought Denver back from down but the Hawks pulled away in the final minutes of the 4th to secure the win.

Atlanta outscored Denver 26-11 in points off of turnovers, the 16th time this year the Hawks have won the turnover battle.


The Hawks captured the 117-109 win over Denver without Trae Young who was added to the injury list along with De’Andre Hunter and John Collins who are out indefinitely due to injuries.

Atlanta had seven players score in double digits marking the first time this season. Dejounte Murray led the team with scoring 34 points marking his ninth career game of 30+ points and 5+ assists, followed by rookie A.J. Griffin tied a career high with 24 points. Clint Capela notched his 11th double-double on the year, scoring 12 points while adding 11 rebounds. Onyeka Okongwu and Aaron Holiday added 10 points a piece.

In his first career start, Jalen Johnson recorded his first NBA double-double behind 10 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, adding a career-high four assists and one block. Jarrett Culver recorded his first double-digit scoring game as a Hawk, netting 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals

Up Next : The Hawks will now look for a third straight win when the team returns to action on Monday at home to face the Oklahoma City Thunder.
