Man oh man! What a game we witnessed last night! Washington stuck around in the ATL for another semifinals game against our beloved Atlanta Dream! Atlanta came out with the win over Washington, 78-75! The Mystics stuck with us the entire game barely giving us a chance to lead most of the time. Elena Delle Donne gave us her best game as she always does with 27 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal. However, in the fourth quarter, with 3 minutes left, she went down with a gruesome knee injury. Her status is unknown as of now. We send our best wishes to Elena and the Mystics! Being the perfect package that she is, it has to be tough losing that player when you need her the most. Get well Elena! Kristi Toliver delivered as always with 16 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound and 1 steal. Her reaction to Elena’s injury was quite emotional as we can only imagine, they’re two peas in a pod. LaToya Sanders also assisted with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. What’s great about LaToya Sanders is her consistency as a midrange shooter and her length to always catch the ball and make that shot over you in any situation. Unfortunately, the consistency, length and collaboration wasn’t enough to take down our Atlanta Dream! Alex Bentley led scoring with 22 points,2 assists, 1 rebound and 1 steal. She brought the fire needed off the bench per usual and gave the energy she consistently gives to lead scoring and eke out the win. Tiffany Hayes definitely came through drippin’ with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Tiffany’s toughness and strength kept the Dream moving towards the finish line and even got her a powerful layup over Delle Donne. Jessica Breland and Elizabeth Williams both had 10 points and combined for 25 rebounds and 3 assists. Dealing with Delle Donne and LaToya Sanders in the paint is not easy but they had to do it all night long. Atlanta is now 1-1 with the Mystics in the 2018 WNBA Semifinals and the next matchup will be Friday, August 31th in Washington. Let’s cheer on our Dream from afar and hopefully see them back here for the deciding game! Let’s go Dream!
