New Era: Gladiators Honor Their Past While Embracing the Future

DULUTH, Ga. — The hourglass has officially run out. Thursday night at Gas South Arena, the Atlanta Gladiators hosted a special press conference focused not on hockey, but on the future of the franchise—honoring the past while unveiling a new identity.

Team broadcaster Guy Chiarenza opened the event, setting the tone for an evening centered on growth, community, and change. Owner Alex Campbell followed, reflecting on a strong 2025-26 season that included increased attendance, expanded outreach, and a playoff appearance. He emphasized that fans remain at the heart of the organization.

The biggest change came next. President Jared Youngman announced the Gladiators are moving from navy blue and gold to maroon, black, and white, while keeping the team’s logo. The new colors are meant to reconnect with the franchise’s roots while shaping its next chapter. Three new jerseys—home, away, and alternate—were also revealed for the 2026-27 season.

Each color carries meaning: maroon for tradition and passion, black for strength and toughness, and white for integrity and unity.

Despite the visual changes, the expectations remain the same. Head coach Matt Ginn made it clear the goal is still a Kelly Cup championship. He also introduced new assistant coach Scott Davidson, who brings ECHL experience and a strong development background.

Ginn credited last season’s success to both the team’s belief and the energy of the fans, while noting that player development will continue to be a key focus—even as roster changes are expected.

Beyond hockey, the Gladiators outlined an expanded community push, including school programs, youth initiatives, and player appearances across metro Atlanta. The organization’s new season theme, “One Battle,” reflects its goal of uniting players, fans, and the community.

Director of Ticket Sales Trevor Whimmer also previewed a more immersive fan experience, with new theme nights, in-arena entertainment, and updated season ticket perks. Popular events like Star Wars Night and Education Day will return, alongside new promotions such as Toy Story Night and Margaritaville.

The message of the night was simple: the Gladiators are evolving, not starting over. The blue and gold era is ending, but the identity of the franchise remains intact.

Now, it’s maroon, black, and white.

A new look. A growing fan base. The same championship goal. The hourglass has run out.

A new era of Atlanta Gladiators hockey is officially here.
