Atlanta Gladiators forward Isak Walther has been named the Howies Hockey Tape ECHL Rookie of the Month for December, the league announced.
Walther put together an outstanding month, scoring eight goals and five assists for 13 points in just nine games. The 24-year-old found the back of the net in six of those nine contests and recorded multiple points in five outings, highlighting his consistency and offensive impact.
Two of Walther’s most productive performances came on the road, as he posted three-point games on Dec. 5 at Jacksonville and Dec. 10 at Utah.
A native of Södertälje, Sweden, Walther currently sits second among all ECHL rookies with 13 goals and ranks fifth among first-year players with 23 points through 25 games this season.
Before turning pro, Walther spent four seasons at the University of Vermont, where he totaled 57 points (24 goals, 33 assists) in 128 collegiate games.
Walther is currently on loan to Atlanta’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals.
