Falcons Bring Learn-to-Ride Program to Metro Atlanta Schools

The Atlanta Falcons continue to invest beyond the football field, this time by helping kids across Metro Atlanta take an important first step toward lifelong physical activity. The Atlanta Falcons Youth Fund (AFYF), an associate-led fund of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, has partnered with American Family Insurance and All Kids Bike to bring the nonprofit’s Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program to 11 elementary schools in the area.

The mission is simple but powerful: teach every child in America how to ride a bike during kindergarten physical education class. Through this partnership, each participating school will receive everything needed to make that goal a reality. That includes 24 Strider balance-to-pedal bikes, adjustable helmets for students, teacher training and certification, an instructor bike with a pedal conversion kit, rolling storage racks, and ongoing access to program resources and live support. By introducing biking during the school day, the program helps students build confidence, coordination, and a sense of accomplishment—skills that extend far beyond the playground.

“Learning to ride a bike is a child’s first step into the world of active play,” said Lisa Weyer, executive director of All Kids Bike. She credited the Atlanta Falcons Youth Fund and American Family Insurance for helping open doors for children across Atlanta, giving them the opportunity to develop healthy habits while strengthening their confidence and connection to their community.

Schools were able to apply for the program through All Kids Bike, and with support from members of the Falcons Youth Fund, 11 schools were selected. Those schools include Allgood Elementary in Stone Mountain, Brumby Elementary in Marietta, Burgess-Peterson Academy in Atlanta, Doraville United in Doraville, Gray Elementary in Gray, Heritage Academy in Atlanta, Kay R. Pace Elementary School of the Arts in Jonesboro, KIPP Woodson Park Academy in Atlanta, Lille E. Suder Elementary School in Jonesboro, Main Street Academy in College Park, and Taylor Creek Elementary School in Hinesville.

For the Falcons Youth Fund, the partnership aligns directly with its mission. “Increasing the time kids spend in physical activity is at the core of what we do,” said Chris Millman, AMB Sports and Entertainment Senior Vice President of Community Engagement and Sports Philanthropy. “We’re excited to work with American Family Insurance to expand All Kids Bike’s reach in metro Atlanta. Our hope is that when kids learn to ride, they gain confidence, feel proud of themselves, and develop a skill they can carry with them for life.”

To celebrate the announcement, Falcons players, cheerleaders, and Freddie Falcon teamed up with American Family Insurance agents and All Kids Bike representatives to surprise kindergarten students at Burgess-Peterson Academy and KIPP Woodson Park Academy. The visits included the delivery of brand-new Strider bikes and, more importantly, the joy of watching kids hop on and ride for the very first time—a moment that perfectly captured the impact this program is designed to make.
