Earlier today, members of the Atlanta Hawks and the Lady Hawks came together to spread holiday cheer at Boyce L. Ansley School, fulfilling wish lists for nearly 90 students and teachers at the tuition-free private school serving children in Atlanta who are experiencing or have experienced homelessness.
Beyond providing a high-quality education, Boyce L. Ansley School supports its students and families with daily meals, school supplies, transportation, after-school programming, and comprehensive family services—all at no cost, ensuring students can focus on learning in a safe and supportive environment.
“We are so grateful to gather here today to help make the holidays a little brighter and bring extra joy to these incredible students and teachers,” said Alexis Roe, Vice President of Community Impact for the Atlanta Hawks. “Boyce L. Ansley School does remarkable work supporting children and families with care, dignity, and opportunity, and being able to play even a small part in their holiday celebration means so much to all of us.”
The Lady Hawks, a women’s auxiliary group made up of the wives, significant others, and mothers of Hawks players, coaches, basketball operations staff, and management, played a key role throughout the day. On-site volunteers also included Hawks team members, Hawks Entertainment, Harry the Hawk, and Colli Hawk, the official mascot of the College Park Skyhawks.
In the weeks leading up to the celebration, students wrote personal letters sharing their holiday wishes. Those lists were displayed on a giving tree at the Hawks’ corporate offices, where Hawks and Lady Hawks members selected students to sponsor and purchased gifts directly from their wish lists.
The celebration extended well beyond gift-giving. Volunteers joined students for festive arts and crafts, decorating gingerbread houses and building snowmen, before transitioning to interactive games and basketball fundamentals led by the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Academy.
“We are deeply appreciative of the unwavering support the Atlanta Hawks continue to show our students and their families,” said Ray James, Head of Boyce L. Ansley School. “For the fourth year, they have ensured that every child’s holiday wishes were met, demonstrating a remarkable commitment that goes far beyond a single moment of giving. As a tuition-free private school serving children experiencing homelessness, we are profoundly grateful for their generosity and leadership.”
This year marks the fourth consecutive season the Atlanta Hawks, College Park Skyhawks, and Lady Hawks have partnered to deliver holiday joy to Boyce L. Ansley School. Over the past three years, their collective efforts have reached nearly 200 students, creating meaningful experiences and lasting memories during the holiday season.
