The College Park Skyhawks (3-5) delivered their most explosive offensive performance in nearly two years, rolling past the Westchester Knicks (1-7) with a 135–103 victory on Tuesday morning. The 135 points marked College Park’s highest scoring output since March 11, 2023, at Delaware, setting the tone for a dominant Education Day performance.
Atlanta Hawks rookie forward Asa Newell was electric, pouring in a career-high 27 points to go along with seven rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block in 32 minutes (11-22 FG, 4-7 3PT). Newell has been on a tear in his three games on assignment, now averaging 20.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting an impressive .581 from the field and .583 from deep.
Two-way Hawks forward Caleb Houstan kept the pressure on Westchester’s defense all morning long, knocking down a game-high six three-pointers (6-12 3PT). He finished with 25 points, six assists, three steals and a rebound in 32 minutes. Houstan has now drained 17 threes in just four games for the Skyhawks, shooting 42.5% from beyond the arc.
Center Malik Williams continued his strong play with his second straight double-double, anchoring the interior with 24 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, plus two assists and two steals in 27 minutes.
The trio of Houstan, Newell and Williams combined for 76 of the Skyhawks’ 135 points, and connected on 14 of the team’s 19 made threes, shooting 53.8% from long range as a group.
Westchester opened the morning with early momentum, building an 11-point lead before the Skyhawks settled in to close the gap to 32-26 after the first quarter. College Park continued to chip away behind Newell’s confident shooting, entering halftime down just two, 59-57, after his 18-point first half.
The third quarter belonged entirely to the Skyhawks. College Park exploded out of the locker room on a 17-0 run, swinging the game completely and winning the period 35-24 to take control heading into the fourth.
The Knicks made a push early in the final frame, cutting the deficit to six, but the Skyhawks responded with a barrage of threes. Houstan and Williams each drilled three straight triples in separate scoring bursts, blowing the game wide open and securing the 135-103 victory.
College Park outscored Westchester 78-44 in the second half, their highest-scoring half since January 22, 2023, at Fort Wayne (81 points).
Westchester was led by New York Knicks forward Pacome Dadiet, who finished with 23 points, while Dink Pate added 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in a near triple-double performance.
The Skyhawks will see Westchester again tomorrow at 11 a.m. for part two of Education Day presented by CareSource, before heading out for a three-game road trip against the Maine Celtics and Long Island Nets.
