The College Park Skyhawks and CareSource — a proud partner and nonprofit managed care organization serving more than 430,000 Georgians — announced plans for back-to-back Education Day Games, set for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2 and Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Gateway Center Arena @ College Park. The Skyhawks will host the Westchester Knicks for both morning matchups, marking the first time in team history the organization has held two consecutive Education Day events.
As part of the initiative, the Skyhawks and CareSource will welcome students and staff from local schools, with CareSource donating 250 tickets to Atlanta Public Schools, split across both days. Every attendee will also receive a co-branded, interactive education booklet designed to enhance the experience and tie basketball into classroom-style learning.
“We are so excited to partner with CareSource again this year for not one, but two Education Day games for the first time in our team’s history,” said Atlanta Hawks Senior Vice President of NBA G League and 2K League Operations Janice Koon. “These games provide a unique learning opportunity and give us the chance to interact with and help grow the future scholars and stars of tomorrow. We are looking forward to having a packed house the next two mornings.”
CareSource will also be featured throughout both games with special in-game activations, including two “Well Check” free throw contests and two halftime skills challenges. The winner of each halftime challenge will earn a $500 donation for their school. Fans can also expect to see Cuddles, the CareSource mascot, joining Atlanta’s favorite G League mascot, Colli Skyhawk, courtside and in the stands.
“We are excited to partner with the Skyhawks to bring students and educators from Atlanta Public Schools together for a fun and educational experience,” said Jason Bearden, CareSource Georgia Market President. “
This continued collaboration builds on previous efforts by the Skyhawks and CareSource, including two years of school supply donations at West Clayton Elementary School — home of “Colli’s Classroom,” the Skyhawks’ school adoption program. Across the past two years, more than 8,000 school supply items have been donated to support the school’s 20 classrooms.
Following Wednesday morning’s game, the Skyhawks will hit the road for a three-game trip before returning to Gateway Center Arena to close out the Tip-Off portion of the season against the Greensboro Swarm on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.
