The Atlanta Hawks today announced a series of hires and promotions within the team’s basketball operations group, strengthening both the front office and the player health and performance team.
In the front office, Brittni Donaldson has been named Director of Basketball Development, Methodology and Integration, while Mychel Thompson has joined the organization as a Pro Scout. On the player health and performance side, the Hawks have added Calvin Torres as Head of Sports Science, Dan Warnke as Head of Performance, and Gordon Jeter as Assistant Strength Coach, while Rich McLoughlin has been promoted to Assistant Strength Coach.
Donaldson, a trailblazer in Atlanta, became the Hawks’ first female assistant coach when she joined the staff in 2023. She served in that role for two seasons (2023–25) after coming from the Detroit Pistons, where she was Assistant Coach/Director of Coaching Analytics. Prior to that, she spent four years with the Toronto Raptors—first as a data analyst in basketball operations and then as an assistant coach—earning a 2019 NBA championship ring as part of the Raptors’ staff. A native of Sioux City, Iowa, Donaldson played four years at Northern Iowa, graduating with a degree in statistics and actuarial science.
Thompson arrives from the Golden State Warriors, where he worked as a video coordinator and player development coach. He played 206 games in the NBA G League with Erie, Sioux Falls, and Santa Cruz, and also competed overseas with Pallacanestro Varese in Italy. Collegiately, Thompson starred at Pepperdine, ranking among the program’s career leaders in scoring, three-pointers made, and games played. A Los Angeles native, Thompson has also represented the Bahamas Men’s National Team as both a player and member of the coaching staff.
Torres brings more than 15 years of expertise in performance science and wearable technology. He spent a decade with Catapult Sports, collaborating with NBA and NCAA programs, and has also held positions with the British Olympic Association and the University of California, Berkeley, where he established the school’s sports science department. Torres earned a Master’s degree in Performance Analysis from Middlesex University.
Warnke transitions to the Hawks after seven seasons as the head strength and conditioning coach for the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers. He also served in the same role for the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and previously worked at the University of Minnesota as an assistant director of strength and conditioning. A Wisconsin native, Warnke earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Wisconsin–Superior and a Master of Science from California University of Pennsylvania.
Jeter joins the Hawks from Georgetown University, where he most recently worked as the women’s basketball performance coach. His career also includes time with D1 Training as head speed and strength coach, Chesapeake College as an assistant men’s basketball coach, and internships with Texas, Salisbury, and George Washington. A graduate of Salisbury University with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science, Jeter also earned a Master’s in Exercise Science–Strength and Conditioning from George Washington.
McLoughlin has been elevated after three seasons as the strength and conditioning coach for the College Park Skyhawks, Atlanta’s NBA G League affiliate. His background includes roles at Georgia Southern, Dayton, and Stanford, where he worked with both men’s and women’s basketball programs. A native of suburban Chicago, McLoughlin holds both a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science (2014) and a Master’s in Educational Leadership (2020) from the University of Dayton.
With these additions and promotions, the Hawks continue to expand their infrastructure on and off the court, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to player development, performance, and long-term success.
