The Atlanta Dream wrapped up preseason play with an 83–72 loss to the Washington Mystics, a game that showed flashes of potential but also highlighted areas that still need tightening before the regular season tips off.
Atlanta kept things competitive early, matching Washington’s energy and staying within striking distance through the first half. The Dream showed moments of rhythm offensively, moving the ball and finding open looks, but consistency remained just out of reach.
Coming out of the break, the Mystics created separation. A few key runs, combined with second-chance opportunities, allowed Washington to build a lead that Atlanta couldn’t fully recover from. The Dream continued to battle—pushing pace and trying to chip away—but the gap proved too much down the stretch.
Even in the loss, there were clear takeaways. Effort was there. The fight was there. But execution—especially in key moments—will be the focus moving forward.
Preseason isn’t about perfection, it’s about preparation. And for Atlanta, this was another step in figuring out rotations, building chemistry, and identifying what this team can be when it all clicks.
Now, the real games are around the corner.
