Vibe Take Care of Business in Omaha Behind Jones’ Career Night

The Atlanta Vibe handled their business on the road Thursday night, knocking off the Omaha Supernovas 3–1 behind a career-high performance from opposite hitter Aiko Jones.

Jones led the charge with 19 kills, delivering in the biggest moments and helping Atlanta control the match from start to finish.

The Vibe came out sharp in the opening set, securing a balanced 25–20 win with contributions across the lineup. Outside hitter Leah Edmond set the tone with five kills, Jones added four of her own, and middle blocker Phoebe Awoleye made her presence felt with three kills and two blocks as Atlanta established early rhythm.

Omaha answered in the second set with a 25–20 victory, briefly shifting momentum and forcing the Vibe to reset.

Atlanta responded emphatically.

The Vibe reclaimed control in the third set with a dominant 25–16 win fueled by the now-familiar duo of Edmond and Jones, who combined for 10 kills in the frame and kept Omaha on its heels.

With the match on the line in the fourth, Jones took over. She delivered six kills in the final set alone, powering Atlanta to a 25–20 closeout and sealing her career night in the process.

Rookie setter Averi Carlson orchestrated the offense all evening, finishing with 48 assists — her fifth match this season with 40 or more. Fittingly, she also delivered the final point with a block at the net.

Jones’ stat line reflected her all-around impact: 19 kills, an ace, and a block. Edmond was equally steady, recording 18 kills — her eighth match this season with at least 15 — while adding three blocks on the defensive end.

At the net, Awoleye anchored Atlanta’s defense with four blocks to go along with 10 kills, while rookie middle blocker Jackie Moore scored the first points of her Major League Volleyball career with two kills.

The win continues Atlanta’s strong play in Omaha this season. The Vibe are now 2–0 on the road against the Supernovas, following their reverse sweep in the first meeting on January 16.

Atlanta returns home to Gas South Arena for its next matchup Sunday, March 1, where the Vibe will host the Dallas Pulse at 3 p.m. Eastern looking to keep the momentum rolling.
