Roster Snapshot: Atlanta United Sets Squad Structure for 2026

Atlanta United has officially locked in its roster designations following last week’s compliance deadline, offering an early look at how the club is built heading into the heart of preseason roster movement. While the paperwork is done for now, the roster itself may not be — the league’s primary transfer window remains open until March 26, with a secondary window scheduled from July 13 to Sept. 2.

At the top of the payroll pyramid, Miguel Almirón, Latte Lath, and Alexey Miranchuk occupy the club’s three Designated Player spots — the core expected to drive Atlanta’s attack in 2026. Beyond them, the roster still has room to evolve. The club currently holds two open senior roster slots and one available U-22 Initiative slot, flexibility that could prove valuable if reinforcements are needed as the season unfolds.

Atlanta is also using eight of its nine international roster slots, leaving just one open. One notable administrative move helped ease that pressure: Pedro Amador recently secured his Green Card, meaning he now counts as a domestic player rather than an international one — a quiet but meaningful boost to roster flexibility.

The squad composition shows a mix of established MLS experience, international additions, and a strong Homegrown pipeline. Several young players continue to occupy supplemental roster spots, reinforcing the club’s long-term development strategy while keeping depth options available.

All of this comes as Atlanta searches for its first points of the new campaign.

Atlanta United (0-1-0, 0 points) returns to action Saturday, Feb. 28 when it travels to face San Jose at PayPal Park (10:30 p.m. ET).

With roster flexibility still in hand and transfer windows open, the group that takes the field in California may not be the final version of Atlanta United — but it will offer another early glimpse at what this team could become.
