Hawks’ Culture Fest Returns to Celebrate Atlanta’s Global Pulse

Atlanta doesn’t just host culture — it lives it.

And on Friday, Feb. 20, the Hawks are putting that energy front and center when they host the second annual Culture Fest presented by Verizon as they take on the Miami Heat at State Farm Arena.

This isn’t just another theme night. It’s a celebration of the African, Caribbean, Hispanic and Latin communities that shape the heartbeat of this city every single day.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m., and the first 5,000 fans through the doors will grab a limited-edition red reversible bucket hat courtesy of Verizon — because if you’re going to celebrate culture in Atlanta, you might as well do it in style. And for fans who prefer to catch the game in Spanish, Telemundo Atlanta will simulcast the matchup, expanding access in a way that reflects exactly who this city is.

Atlanta’s story has always been layered, global and evolving. With projections showing the region becoming even more diverse in the coming decades, Culture Fest feels less like a special event and more like a reflection of the present moment. The Hawks are leaning into that reality — not just acknowledging it, but celebrating it loudly.

The night will start before the ball even goes up.

On the concourse, a vibrant pregame parade will feature the ATL Hawks Dancers alongside performers representing African, Caribbean, Hispanic and Latino traditions. Expect color. Expect rhythm. Expect movement. Inside the bowl, DJ Kash will blend Amapiano, Afrobeats and Afro-house, while DJ Sidd Kel adds an international fusion vibe on the concourse. Even the honorary co-captain nod carries weight, with Verizon Regional President Jerome Cheatham participating in the pregame ceremony.

Then comes halftime — and that’s when the building really turns into a global block party.

DJ ECool, DJ EU and Mix Master David will take center court together, each bringing their cultural influences and signature sounds into one collaborative performance. Afrobeats. Latin fusion. Dancehall. Hip-Hop. EDM. Soca. It’s a lineup that mirrors Atlanta itself — layered, loud and unapologetically diverse.

DJ ECool’s Lagos-to-Atlanta influence has helped push Afrobeats deeper into the city’s mainstream soundscape. DJ EU continues to blur genres while building a global reputation rooted right here in Georgia. And Mix Master David’s ability to seamlessly move across cultures and generations has made him a staple in the Atlanta scene. Together, it won’t just be a halftime show — it’ll be a statement.

And beyond the music and movement, there’s partnership at play. Verizon continues to expand its footprint inside State Farm Arena, rolling out advanced technology that enhances everything from operations to fan experience. Culture Fest reflects that shared investment — not just in innovation, but in community.

At its core, this night is about recognition. Recognition that Atlanta’s power comes from its people. From the traditions passed down through families. From the music that fills cookouts and festivals. From the languages spoken at home and in the streets.

Basketball may bring everyone under one roof. But Culture Fest reminds us why Atlanta feels like home to so many in the first place.

Limited tickets remain. And if last year was any indication, this is one you’ll want to experience in person.
