The Atlanta Vibe fought through a back-and-forth showdown Friday night, coming away with a 3-2 road win over the Orlando Valkyries to climb to .500 on the season.
Leah Edmond carried the team with a season-high 24 kills and a double-double, adding 12 digs and two aces. She opened strong in the first set, helping the Vibe to a 25-18 win with seven kills and four digs, hitting .500. Orlando bounced back in the second set, taking it 25-19, but Atlanta regained momentum in the third with another 25-19 win.
The fourth set belonged to Orlando, who evened the match at 2-2 with a 25-21 victory. In the decisive fifth set, Atlanta’s defense shined. Middle Blocker Raven Colvin delivered two blocks and two kills, while Edmond finished the match with five more kills, giving the Vibe a 15-9 set win and the match victory.
Rookie Setter Averi Carlson continues to make her mark, posting 45 assists for the third straight game, along with eight digs, two aces, and two blocks. At the net, Colvin and Khori Louis combined for 16 kills and five blocks, anchoring Atlanta’s strong front-court presence.
The Vibe have now played four five-set matches this season, with a 2-2 record in those tightly contested games, showing resilience and poise in clutch situations.
