Young Leads the Way as Gladiators Edge Greenville in Sensory Friendly Game

The Atlanta Gladiators continued their strong stretch of play Monday afternoon, grinding out a 2–1 victory over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at Gas South Arena during the club’s Sensory Friendly Game. Powered by a two-goal performance from Alex Young and a disciplined, team-first defensive effort, the Gladiators secured another important home win.

Atlanta wasted no time getting on the board. Just 1:22 into the opening period, Young finished a quick passing sequence, cashing in a setup from Cody Sylvester and Isak Walther to give the Gladiators an early lead. Atlanta carried the pace for much of the period and generated sustained pressure, but Greenville answered late, tying the game at 1–1 with under a minute remaining before the intermission.

The second period brought a fast, physical brand of hockey, with both teams trading chances and neither side giving much space. Goaltending stood tall at both ends until the final seconds of the frame. Following a Greenville icing, the Gladiators executed a set play to perfection, as Young stepped into a slap shot with just 3.5 seconds left, beating the buzzer and restoring Atlanta’s lead at 2–1 heading into the third.

Greenville pushed hard in the final period, pressing for the equalizer, but Atlanta’s structure held strong. The Gladiators limited second chances, stayed composed under pressure, and created quality looks of their own. A late Greenville shot off the post provided a scare, but Atlanta closed the door and saw the game out to the final horn.

With the win, the Gladiators capped off another successful afternoon at Gas South Arena and now shift their focus to a key divisional road trip, looking to carry their momentum away from home.
