The College Park Skyhawks (3–6) stayed hot on the road Saturday night, pulling away late to defeat the Grand Rapids Gold (4–5) 134–122 in the second game of their two-game series in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The two teams split the series, but College Park finished strong to close the road set on a high note.
The game remained tight through the first three quarters, with both teams nearly even across the stat sheet. The turning point came late in the third, when the Skyhawks rattled off six straight points in transition, creating separation that carried through to the final buzzer. College Park finished with 20 fast-break points, exploiting Grand Rapids’ struggles defending in transition.
Two-way guard RayJ Dennis led the Skyhawks with a 26-point, 11-assist double-double, controlling the pace and creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. Basheer Jihad complemented the effort with 23 points and 12 rebounds, providing key production inside.
Grand Rapids was paced by Curtis Jones, who finished with 24 points, seven rebounds, and five steals. James Akinjo added a 19-point, 14-assist double-double, and Dane Goodwin chipped in 20 points off the bench, but the Gold couldn’t overcome College Park’s late-game transition dominance.
The Skyhawks now set their sights on Monday, Jan. 12, when they return home to take on the Osceola Magic, aiming to carry the momentum from the road win back to Gateway Center Arena.
