The Atlanta Falcons have dismissed Head Coach Raheem Morris and General Manager Terry Fontenot following a meeting Sunday night in Atlanta with Owner and Chairman Arthur M. Blank. The decision comes just hours after the Falcons’ 2025 season came to a close with a home game against the New Orleans Saints.
Morris was named the Falcons’ head coach following the 2023 season, returning to a role he previously held on an interim basis during the final 11 games of the 2020 campaign. Over the past two seasons, Atlanta posted identical 8–9 records in both 2024 and 2025, finishing outside the playoff picture each year. Morris concludes his tenure as full-time head coach with a 16–18 record and no postseason appearances. Including his interim stretch in 2020, when the Falcons went 4–7, Morris’ time leading the team was marked by competitiveness but inconsistent results.
Fontenot, meanwhile, completed his fifth season as the Falcons’ general manager after being hired in 2021. During his tenure, Atlanta compiled an overall record of 37–48, also without a playoff appearance. While the organization emphasized roster building and long-term flexibility under Fontenot, the on-field results ultimately fell short of expectations.
“I have great personal affinity for both Raheem and Terry and appreciate their hard work and dedication to the Falcons, but I believe we need new leadership in these roles moving forward,” Blank said in a statement.
The Falcons will begin searches for both positions immediately. ZRG Partners will assist with the head coach search, while Sportsology Group will support the organization in identifying its next general manager. The searches will run concurrently, though no specific timeline has been established for filling either role.
With another season now in the books and major leadership changes underway, the Falcons enter a pivotal offseason as the organization looks to reset its direction and position itself for sustained success moving forward.
