Final Chapter Ends in Utah as Gladiators Fall 4–0 to Grizzlies

The final chapter between the Atlanta Gladiators and Utah Grizzlies closed Saturday night at Maverik Center, with Utah skating away with a 4–0 win in the last-ever meeting between the two clubs. Grizzlies goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo was the story, stopping all 20 shots he faced to earn his 10th professional shutout in his first appearance with Utah.

Atlanta entered the night having won four straight against the Grizzlies this season, but Utah set the tone early on Teddy Bear Toss Night. Evan Friesen opened the scoring with 3:05 remaining in the first period, burying a rebound in front of Ethan Haider and sending teddy bears raining down from the stands. Utah carried a 1–0 lead into the break while outshooting Atlanta 13–5 in the opening frame.

The game turned chippy in the second period. Louis Boudon and Griffin Ness dropped the gloves at the 8:02 mark, and penalties began to pile up for the Gladiators. Utah took advantage, striking on the power play when Neil Shea finished a rebound from the far circle with 6:30 left in the period. Tyler Gratton and Aiden Hansen-Bukata picked up the assists to make it 2–0.

Late in the period, emotions boiled over again after a hard hit on Andrew Jarvis. Ryan Nolan stepped in to defend his teammate, earning an instigating penalty that put Utah back on the man advantage. After a review added 1.1 seconds back to the clock, the Grizzlies made it count. Luke Manning won the faceoff cleanly to Lebster, who fired home a buzzer-beating power play goal with just 0.3 seconds left, pushing the lead to 3–0. Utah outshot Atlanta 12–7 in the second.

Atlanta struggled to find offense in the third, and Utah added another power play goal at 9:02 when Luke Manning scored, with assists from Shea and Robbie Stucker, to cap the scoring at 4–0. Utah finished the night with a 34–20 edge in shots.

Haider turned aside 30 of 34 shots in the loss, while the Gladiators went 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-6 on the penalty kill. With the defeat, Atlanta fell to 16–6 on the season, though the Gladiators still closed the season series with Utah at 4–1 and finish the all-time matchup 7–2–2 in their favor.

The Gladiators now turn their attention back home, returning to Gas South Arena on Friday night to take on the Jacksonville Icemen for Marvel Night. Atlanta will hit the ice in Fantastic Four-themed specialty jerseys, which will be auctioned off following the game.
