Skyhawks Finish the Job, Complete Two-Game Sweep of Westchester with 116–111 Victory

The College Park Skyhawks (4-5) kept the momentum rolling on the second half of their back-to-back, knocking off the Westchester Knicks (1-8) 116–111 on Wednesday and completing a clean two-game sweep. This matchup also marked the second straight Education Day back-to-back, as thousands of students once again packed the arena with the kind of energy that lifted the Skyhawks from start to finish.

Center Malik Williams turned in another monster performance, securing his third straight double-double and delivering the best game of his career. Williams finished with 29 points and a game-high 15 rebounds in 36 minutes (8-13 FG, 3-5 3PT, 6-6 FT), marking the first time he’s posted 29-plus points and 15-plus boards in a single outing. Over his last three games, the Louisville product is averaging 23.3 points and 12 rebounds while shooting .522 from the field and .500 from deep — absolute dominance.

Javan Johnson added timely firepower, knocking down five threes for the 16th time in his career and finishing with 17 points, six rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes. And once again, the Skyhawks showcased their depth: Caleb Houstan (16), MJ Walker (13), Erik Reynolds II (12) and Dwight Murray Jr. (12) all scored in double figures. It marked the fourth time this season that six or more Skyhawks hit the 10-point mark.

Just like yesterday, Westchester came out swinging. The Knicks built a quick double-digit lead behind 13 first-quarter points from Dink Pate, but College Park weathered the storm and trimmed the deficit to 31-26 by the end of the quarter.

The back-and-forth continued in the second. Both teams grabbed six-point leads, but a late push from Westchester sent the Skyhawks into halftime trailing 55-54 — fueled by a career-high 31 first-half points from Pate.

College Park took control in the third, erupting on a 20-7 run behind eight points each from Johnson and Murray. By the end of the frame, the Skyhawks held an 87-76 advantage and all the momentum.

Westchester made one last push in the fourth, cutting the Skyhawks’ lead to just one with 56 seconds left after a 12-4 run. But College Park stayed composed. After a missed Knicks three, Caleb Houstan calmly sank both free throws to extend the lead to 114-111. The defense then stepped up again, forcing another missed triple before Malik Williams secured the rebound, knocked down two clutch free throws, and sealed the 116-111 win.

College Park shot a sharp 7-of-11 from three in the second half, with Williams and Johnson combining for six of those makes.

Westchester was paced by a huge outing from Dink Pate, who recorded his first career triple-double with career highs in points (37), assists (13) and rebounds (11).

The Skyhawks now hit the road for the final trip of the Tip-Off portion of the season. College Park will take on the Maine Celtics on Dec. 6 and 7 at 1 p.m., followed by an 11 a.m. matchup on Dec. 9 against the Long Island Nets. The Skyhawks return home to Gateway Center Arena on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. to wrap up the Tip-Off Tournament against the Greensboro Swarm.
