Too Many Fins, Not Enough Wins: Falcons Sink at Home vs. Miami

The Atlanta Falcons fell to the Miami Dolphins, 34–10, on a frustrating afternoon in front of the home crowd. Atlanta struggled to find rhythm offensively and couldn’t slow down Miami’s explosiveness, dropping the team further behind in the NFC playoff chase.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins made his first start of the season, throwing for 173 yards on 21 completions, but the offense never fully clicked. Tight end Kyle Pitts was the brightest spot, hauling in nine catches for 59 yards. His nine receptions tied his most in a game since 2021, and his 16 catches over the last two weeks mark his best two-game span since his rookie season. Pitts also became just the third tight end in Falcons history with multiple games of nine-plus receptions, joining Tony Gonzalez and Austin Hooper.

Running back Tyler Allgeier punched in Atlanta’s lone touchdown, finishing with four carries for four yards and a score, plus two receptions for 10 yards. The touchdown also gave him four on the season, tying his career high, and helped push him past 3,000 career scrimmage yards — making him the 14th running back in franchise history to reach that milestone.

Defensively, linebacker Kaden Elliss racked up a game-high 12 tackles, including two tackles for loss and a pass breakup — his 14th game with double-digit tackles as a Falcon. Corner Dee Alford added five solo tackles and a sack, giving him a career-best two on the year. Rookie linebacker JD Bertrand made his first NFL start and posted nine tackles in the effort.

After the game, Head Coach Raheem Morris didn’t sugarcoat it:

“Tough day, obviously, at the office. Sundays, man, these things, you can be humbled and today was one of those days.”

When asked about Cousins and the offense, Morris added:

“Tough to discuss anybody’s play when you go out and play that way. It was bad across the board. It starts with us, and that’s something that we’ve got to fix all together, and we’ve got to go and get those things done this week.”

Cousins kept it short at the podium, saying:

“I don’t have much to say. Frustrating day. Just wasn’t good enough.”

The Falcons will look to regroup quickly. The next two games are on the road, with a matchup against the New England Patriots on Sunday, Nov. 2, followed by a trip to face the Colts on Sunday, Nov. 9. Atlanta will return to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Nov. 16 to host the Carolina Panthers.

Tough loss, but the season marches on — still time, still chances, and still reason to #RiseUp.
