Despite the loss, Atlanta’s defense delivered one of its strongest efforts of the year, holding San Francisco to just 324 total yards — their lowest offensive output of the season. The Falcons set the tone early with a 19-play, 10:40 drive on their second possession, capped by a 38-yard Parker Romo field goal to open the scoring. The march downfield was Atlanta’s longest drive by time since 1994, showcasing the offense’s ability to control tempo, even if it didn’t translate into points often enough.
Michael Penix Jr. started sharp, completing nine of his first 12 passes for 56 yards in the opening quarter — tying his most completions in any quarter of his young career and marking his best first-quarter total to date. Penix finished 21-of-38 for 241 yards and a touchdown, pushing him to 2,184 passing yards through nine starts, the most by any quarterback in Falcons history over their first nine career games.
Bijan Robinson continued his streak of consistency, posting 92 scrimmage yards with 40 on the ground and 52 receiving, including a touchdown grab. It marked his 12th straight game with at least 90 scrimmage yards — the longest active streak in the NFL and the second-longest ever by a Falcon. Robinson’s 27 career scrimmage touchdowns are now the most by any Atlanta player through 40 games, and his seven receiving touchdowns are the most by a Falcons running back through three seasons in team history.
Through the air, Drake London hauled in four receptions for 42 yards, moving into ninth place all-time in career catches for the franchise with 279. Kyle Pitts added seven receptions for 62 yards — his second-highest total of the season — while Darnell Mooney led the team in receiving with 68 yards, averaging an explosive 22.7 yards per catch.
On defense, Zach Harrison delivered a standout performance with four tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack — giving him a career-high 3.5 on the year. Linebacker Kaden Elliss snagged his second-career interception and finished with nine tackles, becoming one of just eight players in the NFL to record at least one sack and one interception in both 2024 and 2025. Rookie JD Bertrand posted a career-best 10 tackles, tying Jessie Bates for the team lead, and Jamal Agnew sparked Atlanta out of halftime with a 45-yard kick return — the longest by a Falcon since 2022 — setting up the team’s lone touchdown drive.
The defense gave Atlanta every chance to hang around, but until the Falcons start finishing drives instead of just sustaining them, close-range games like this will continue to slip away. At 3–3, Atlanta now looks to regroup, reset, and get back in the win column next week when the Falcons host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
