Howard on Fire: Rhyne’s Back-to-Back Week Honors Highlight Dream’s Historic Run

Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard is riding high — and the WNBA agrees. The league has named Howard the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played September 1–11, marking her second weekly honor in as many weeks and the third of her career. Talk about ending the regular season on a high note!

Howard averaged 22.4 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.4 rebounds while shooting a scorching 50% from the field and 42% from three. She led Atlanta to a perfect 5-0 record during that stretch, including a jaw-dropping performance against the Los Angeles Sparks on September 5. That night, Howard exploded for a season-high 37 points, becoming the first player in WNBA history to hit nine three-pointers in multiple games.

This back-to-back recognition cements Howard as one of the league’s elite. She’s now just the fourth Dream player to earn multiple Player of the Week honors, joining teammate Allisha Gray as the only active players in franchise history to do so. Her dominance was a key piece in Atlanta’s record-setting season, capped off with 30 wins and the No. 3 seed in the 2025 WNBA Playoffs.

Next up, Howard and the Dream tip off their postseason run against the Indiana Fever. Game 1 is Sunday, September 14 at 3 p.m. ET on ABC at Gateway Center Arena. If Howard keeps playing like this, playoff opponents beware — this Dream is unstoppable.
