Dream Big: Atlanta Secures No. 3 Seed, Returns Home for First Playoff Game Since 2018

The Atlanta Dream is back in the postseason — and not just back, but back as one of the top contenders. After a historic 2025 campaign, the Dream locked in the No. 3 seed in the WNBA Playoffs and will host Game 1 of their First Round series on Sunday, September 14 at 3:00 p.m. ET at Gateway Center Arena, live on ABC.

It’s been a long time coming for Atlanta fans — the Dream will play their first home playoff game since 2018 and look to capture their first postseason win since that same year. If the best-of-three series stretches, the Dream will return home for a decisive Game 3 on Thursday, September 18, with Game 2 set for Tuesday, September 16 in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The road here has been nothing short of remarkable. Atlanta set a new franchise record with 30 wins, posted the best win percentage in team history (.682), and doubled their win total from last season. Along the way, the Dream produced three All-Stars and climbed to the No. 3 seed under first-year head coach Karl Smesko, making history while building momentum.

Atlanta split the regular-season series 2-2 with the Indiana Fever — all matchups happening before the All-Star break — setting the stage for what promises to be a fiery playoff clash.

Tickets for Game 1 at Gateway Center Arena are on sale now at dream.wnba.com/tickets. For fans who can’t make it to the arena, the series will be broadcast nationally across ABC and ESPN platforms.

From here, the stakes only get higher. The WNBA Semifinals tip off Sunday, September 21 in a best-of-five format, followed by the WNBA Finals on October 3 — a best-of-seven battle that could stretch to October 17.

Atlanta has been rewriting its record books all season long. Now, it’s time to chase the ultimate goal — a championship.
