Nine Atlanta United Players Receive International Call-Ups for September Window

Atlanta United will be well-represented on the international stage during the upcoming FIFA window, as nine players received call-ups from their respective national teams. Miguel Almirón, Luke Brennan, Dominik Chong Qui, Ronald Hernández, Jayden Hibbert, Saba Lobjanidze, Alexey Miranchuk, Cooper Sanchez, and Bartosz Slisz will all link up with their countries for matches taking place Sept. 1-9.

Almirón back with Paraguay

Miguel Almirón returns to the Paraguayan national team for a pair of FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers. Paraguay, currently sitting fifth in the CONMEBOL standings with 24 points, hosts Ecuador on Sept. 4 before traveling to face Peru on Sept. 9. Almirón has started 61 of his 68 caps for Paraguay, tallying eight goals and six assists since his debut in 2015.

U.S. youth call-ups for Brennan, Chong Qui, and Sanchez

Luke Brennan was named to the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team roster for two friendlies against Morocco on Sept. 5 and Sept. 7 in Spain. This will be the final camp before the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile later this month. Brennan has made eight appearances and scored twice at the U-20 level.

Defender Dominik Chong Qui will join the U.S. U-19s for a training camp in Fayetteville, Georgia from Sept. 1-8. He has six appearances with the U-18s.

Homegrown midfielder Cooper Sanchez earned a call-up to the U.S. U-17 squad for a training camp in the Netherlands, where the group will face the Dutch twice on Sept. 5 and Sept. 8. Sanchez is preparing for the U-17 World Cup in Qatar this November and already has five appearances at the youth level.

Hernández, Hibbert, Lobjanidze, Miranchuk, and Slisz join senior national teams

Ronald Hernández will represent Venezuela as they close out World Cup qualifying with tough matchups at Argentina (Sept. 4) and at home against Colombia (Sept. 9). The veteran defender has logged 33 caps, with one goal and three assists for La Vinotinto.

Goalkeeper Jayden Hibbert received his first-ever senior call-up to Canada, where he’ll feature in international friendlies at Romania on Sept. 5 and at Wales on Sept. 9. The 21-year-old earned his first MLS clean sheet on Aug. 23 against Toronto.

Saba Lobjanidze heads back to Georgia for home qualifiers against Turkiye (Sept. 4) and Bulgaria (Sept. 7). The winger has 40 appearances and four goals with the national team since 2017.

Alexey Miranchuk rejoins Russia for a pair of friendlies against Jordan on Sept. 4 and Qatar on Sept. 7. He has 46 caps and eight goals since his debut in 2015.

Bartosz Slisz will join Poland for two World Cup qualifiers, traveling to the Netherlands on Sept. 4 before hosting Finland on Sept. 7. The defensive midfielder has 17 appearances for Poland since 2021.
