Falcons Sign QB Ben DiNucci, Part Ways with Emory Jones and DJ Chark

The Atlanta Falcons made a series of roster moves, announcing the signing of quarterback Ben DiNucci while waiving/injuring quarterback Emory Jones and releasing veteran wide receiver DJ Chark.

DiNucci, 27, brings NFL experience to Atlanta after being originally selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round (231st overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Pittsburgh. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound signal caller has appeared in three career games, including one start, completing 23-of-43 passes for 219 yards.

Before entering the league, DiNucci had a standout collegiate career, beginning at Pitt (2015-17) before transferring to James Madison (2018-19). Over five seasons, he completed 570-of-854 passes for 6,823 yards and 51 touchdowns, while also showcasing his mobility and playmaking ability at the FCS level.

Meanwhile, the Falcons parted ways with Jones, who was waived/injured, and Chark, who was released. Jones, a rookie, had been competing for a depth role at quarterback, while Chark — a former 1,000-yard receiver and second-round pick — joined Atlanta earlier this offseason but did not secure a spot in the wide receiver rotation.

With these moves, the Falcons add depth to their quarterback room while continuing to reshape the roster heading into the regular season.
