Atlanta Vibe’s 13-Game Win Streak Snapped in Four-Set Battle with Omaha Supernovas

 

The Atlanta Vibe’s historic 13-match win streak came to an end Sunday evening as the team fell to the Omaha Supernovas in four hard-fought sets at Gas South Arena. With the loss, the Vibe drop to 19-9 on the season, while the Supernovas improve to 21-7.

Despite the outcome, the Vibe showcased resilience and strength on both sides of the net. Outside hitter Leah Edmond once again anchored Atlanta’s offense, notching a team-high 17 kills. She was closely followed by opposite hitter Aiko Jones with 13 kills, while middle blocker Khori Louis and outside hitter Micaya White added 11 apiece.

Middle blocker McKenna Vicini delivered a standout performance at the net, leading all players with a .412 hitting efficiency — the highest of the match. As a team, the Vibe outhit the Supernovas with a .322 efficiency, edging Omaha’s .319, a testament to Atlanta’s offensive consistency throughout the match.

Defensively, libero Morgan Hentz continued to be a cornerstone for Atlanta, tying her previous performance with 23 digs. Edmond and setter Marlie Monserez added 12 digs each. Louis also made her presence felt at the net, tallying five blocks — the most recorded by any player in the match.

Statistically, the Vibe dominated in three major categories: Total Points (77), Digs (66), and Assists (62), showing that the match was closer than the final score indicated.

With regular season play behind them, Atlanta now shifts focus to the PVF Championship Tournament in Las Vegas. The Vibe will face the Orlando Valkyries in the semifinal round on Friday, May 9th, with first serve scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET.
