In a groundbreaking collaboration, NBA superstar LeBron James has partnered with Mattel to become the first professional athlete honored with a Ken doll in his likeness. Unveiled as part of Mattel’s new “Kenbassador” series, the LeBron James doll captures the basketball icon’s signature style and pays tribute to his philanthropic efforts.
The meticulously designed doll features James in a custom varsity jacket adorned with meaningful patches, including his jersey number “23,” a nod to his Ohio roots, and the “We Are Family” slogan representing his LeBron James Family Foundation. Accessories such as Nike sneakers, Beats headphones, sunglasses, and his distinctive “I Promise” wristband further personalize the figure. Notably, the doll stands an inch taller than standard Ken dolls, reflecting James’s 6-foot-9 stature .
James expressed his excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of positive role models for youth. “As a young kid, I was fortunate to have role models who not only inspired me but also showed me what’s possible through hard work and dedication,” he said. “Now, as an adult, I understand how vital it is for young people to have positive figures to look up to” .
The LeBron James Kenbassador doll will be available for $75 starting April 14, 2025, at select retailers and online platforms, including Mattel Creations, Target, Amazon, and Walmart. In conjunction with the release, Mattel will donate to the LeBron James Family Foundation and contribute copies of James’s children’s book, I Am More Than, to Save the Children for each doll sold at Target from April 14–19 .
This collaboration not only celebrates James’s influence on and off the court but also marks a significant moment in the evolving representation within the Barbie brand.
