Lebron Propel LA to Victory Over Atlanta on his Birthday

The Atlanta Hawks fell 121-130 to the LA Lakers on Friday evening at State Farm Arena. LeBron led the Lakers to victory with 47 points on his 38th birthday.

“I called it before the game so I had to make it happen. After starting 1-for-5. I didn’t know it was going to happen.” said James on his 47-point performance.

After the game James signed his jersey for Atlanta rapper and G-League College Parks Skyhawks 2 Chainz before leaving the court to standing ovation from the crowd.

It was a promising first quarter, the  Hawks (17-19)  battled hard and at one point gained a 15-point lead.  Atlanta regained a 101-100 lead behind Aaron Holiday’s 3-pointer midway though the 4th. It was when Lebron landed a 3-pointer Atlanta’s defense completely fell apart and never recovered.

Six Hawks players scored in double figures in tonight’s game, marking the second straight contest six players have netted 10+ points for the Hawks, as well as the 16th time this season: Trae Young (29), Dejounte Murray (20), Onyeka Okongwu (17), Bogdan Bogdanovic (17), Jalen Johnson (15), and AJ Griffin (13).


Atlanta finished the 2022 calendar year with a 30-13 record at State Farm Arena. Atlanta is on a West coast road trip will open the new year on the road against the Golden State Warriors on Jan 2. , Kings Jan 4., and the Lakers again on Jan 6.



The Hawks are 4-1 in their last five outings versus the Warriors, which includes a 121-110 victory in
their most recent contest on 3/25/22 at State Farm Arena . In the win, Trae Young finished with 33 points (12-20 FG, 4-9 3FG, 5-5 FT) and 15 assists, marking Young’s second career outing of at least 30 points and 15 assists on five-or-fewer free throws.

A win on Monday would mark the franchise’s 35th win to begin a new calendar year, including the 16th road victory (34-40 overall record in first game of the calendar year). The Hawks’ 34 wins to begin a new year are tied for the eighth-most in NBA history, per Elias Sports. Tip of is at 10:00 PM ET.
