Atlanta United signs Veteran goalkeeper Quentin Westberg

Atlanta United announced today it has signed goalkeeper Quentin Westberg to a one-year contract for the 2023 MLS season. The 36-year-old spent the past four seasons with Toronto FC after beginning his professional career in France.

“Quentin is a proven goalkeeper in MLS and Europe, and we are excited to welcome him to Atlanta,” Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said. “We wanted to strengthen our depth at the goalkeeper position this offseason and Quentin will be a great addition to our group.”

Westberg was born in France and came through the youth academy with ES Troyes AC before making his professional debut on Oct. 21, 2006 as a substitute vs. Valenciennes. Over four seasons, he made more than 50 appearances for Troyes. In the summer of 2012, Westberg joined Luzenac AP of the Championnat National where he received his first extended period of playing time. In two seasons, the goalkeeper made 71 appearances and recorded 27 clean sheets in league play, earning him a move to Ligue 2 side Tours FC.
