Falcons QB change after 2 straight loss

Atlanta has claimed their second straight loss in what would have and should have been big wins for the team.

The Falcons had yet again missed opportunities to blame, and the inability to make the plays needed when the team fell to Washington 13-19 (Nov 27.) and Pittsburgh 19-16 on Sunday (Dec.4.) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Steelers rushed for 154 yards and ran out most of the clock at the end of the game.

“Clearly, we came up three points short,” Smith said. “We’ll get in there and evaluate fairly and objectively. Everything’s on the table. It’s not good enough when you lose a game. That’s what happened. We came up short.”

Atlanta now stands at 5-8 overall after losing four of their last five.

The climb now begins as the Falcons try to claw their way back on top of the NFC South. Atlanta would need to win three of their final four games. One of the wins must be against the Bucs in the final week

“We want to get back in the winning side. said Smith. “We’ve played a lot of close games. It’s not an issue of [the] guys, and you see the resolve we have no matter what. There’s no moral victories. We’ve got to get over this hump.”

The Falcons enter their bye week in week 14. along with other teams that will not play this week (Commanders, Packers, Saints, Colts and Bears).

Moving forward Atlanta must play better.

“At the end of the day, they’ve got to make a decision as to what’s best for the team and whatever happens happens, but I’m not really thinking about that right now.” said Mariota.

A change is a coming as the Falcons will start rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder for week 15 and bench veteran Marcus Mariota.

Next up: The home team will face New Orleans on Sunday, December 18. Hopefully the dirty birds will be able to right the wrong the pesky Saints bestowed upon the team in Week 1 heartbreaking loss. Kick-off at 1:00 p.m. ET.
