Jabari Parker and his family held their annual Thanksgiving turkey drive on Sunday afternoon at the Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA.
“Giving back is something I’m rooted in,” said Parker, “I’ve been blessed with a lot so it’s time to pay it forward.”
The Jabari Parker Family Foundation provided Thanksgiving meals to 300 underprivileged families. Parker’s mother, Folola Finau-Parker, and brother also help pass out the meals.
Ambassador Andrew Young was also in attendance and gave words of wisdom to the participants “The Hawks is a major part of our community. What I want to do is find one game, not just the young people but anybody who’s interested in basketball, load one of our buses and we all go to a basketball game together.”
Parker is not a stranger to giving back. His father, former NBA player Sonny Parker, formed a foundation to help Chicago’s south side kids stay in school and prepare for college.
