Hawks Defeat Cavs

Atlanta Hawks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 131-107 on Thursday night at State Farm Arena.

Trae Young led the team in scoring 30 points and 9 assists, Kevin Huerter dished out 23 points, Onyeka Okongwu recorded his first double-double of the season, registering 17 points , Clint Capela finished with 12 points, Bogdan Bogdanovic chipped in 11 points, while Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot rounded off the scoring efforts with 12 points.

“Our approach has to be such that we come out and take care of business, establish ourselves right from the start defensively. And I thought we did that.” said Hawks head coach Nate McMillan

HAWKS INJURY UPDATE : Trae Young (groin soreness) and Lou Williams (ankle, back) are probable. Jalen Johnson (concussion protocol)

On Friday it was announced that Hawks forward John Collins (right foot strain including a plantar fascia tear, right ring finger sprain) is continuing to progress through his rehabilitation activities. His return to basketball activity will be dependent on upcoming follow-up appointments with foot and finger specialists, and consultation with the team’s medical staff. His status will be updated as appropriate:

 

Up Next: The NBA today announced that Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young is the winner of the February NBA Cares Community Assist Award presented by Kaiser Permanente in recognition of ongoing efforts to normalize the conversation around mental health and promote overall well-being in Atlanta and Oklahoma.  Young will be presented with the award on Saturday, April 2 ahead of the Hawks’ matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Quavo Night at State Farm Arena.
