Victory Insight at the Capital for Atlanta United

Atlanta United really needs there fans now more than ever. After having a strong 2019 season, Atlanta needs to recapture the energy they once had in order to end this season strong. Breaking their losing streak with a win from FC Dallas, Atlanta fought valiantly but lost the battle to Chicago Fire this past weekend.

With Chicago on the board early in the match, Atlanta tried to bounce back in the game, but fell 2-0. Fabian Herbers set the tone of the match, scoring a goal for Chicago during the 7th minute, causing Atlanta to play catch up during the rest of the game. Even though Atlanta had more possessions of the ball, and led the game with 10 shots towards the goal, it was still challenging for them to score. Going into another weekend’s game on the road with more L’s than W’s, our beloved Atlanta United can still recover.

“When you lose goals as early as we have in first halves on the road, you give yourself an uphill battle. That’s pretty straight forward. I don’t think teams have out-played us to get their goals, it’s been more individual mistakes that are certainly avoidable. I think from there you’re seeing a group that’s short on confidence right now. When we get the first goal, you see them more confident. Unfortunately, when we lose the first goal, the belief in the group is not quite there at the moment. It’s got to change, and it’s got to change quick for everyone at the club,” said Interim Head Coach Stephen Glass on the struggles of winning on the road.

Highlighting more on this past weekend, Jeff Larentowics made history by making his 431st MLS regular season appearance behind record holding, Kyle Beckerman. This was an accomplishment for both himself and the team. In addition, Brooks Lennon also made his 100th MLS grand game appearance.

Atlanta United is keeping their heads held high as they head to Washington DC  in this upcoming weekend to take on D.C United for the next round of this 2020 season. The next game and first match against United is Saturday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Audi field.
