The Atlanta Hawks through the Hawks Foundation and State Farm are providing support to Goodr, an Atlanta-based social impact startup leveraging technology to reduce food waste and end hunger, in an effort to combat food insecurity during the current COVID-19 crisis for the most vulnerable populations: senior citizens and low-income students who rely on subsidized school meals for daily nourishment.
The Ressler Gertz Family Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Hawks Principal Owners Tony Ressler and Jami Gertz, has matched the contributions of the Hawks Foundation and State Farm to support the efforts and provide additional resources for Goodr.
Goodr is providing five pop-up grocery stores in underserved communities throughout Atlanta and delivering food and supplies directly to senior citizens at senior facilities or their homes.
Yesterday, along with @StateFarm, we supported @TheGoodrCo to combat food insecurity during the current COVID-19 crisis.
In three hours, we served more than 500 individuals & families in our pop-up grocery store at the At-Promise Youth Center. 🙏🍎🥬

“In this unprecedented time filled with uncertainty for so many, we are honored to partner with Jasmine and support her team at Goodr. They are providing a tremendous vehicle to truly help our fellow Atlantans who are struggling with the most basics needs by providing them the comfort of knowing where their next meals are coming from,” said Steve Koonin, CEO of the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena.
In collaboration with the City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation, Goodr is adapting its normal operations to comply with CDC guidelines which recommend social distancing and avoidance of large gatherings.
Three of the five pop-up grocery stores will take place at basketball courts previously renovated through the Hawks Foundation and four of the locations are in high-density areas served by parks through the city of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation.
Registration opens every Monday morning for future pop-up grocery stores. Participants must register at GoodrPopUp.Splashthat.com and will receive confirmation on dates and times of the pop-up grocery stores.
