Another grueling loss for the Hawks

After falling to the 76ers on Monday, the Hawks returned home to face the Orlando Magic on Wednesday at State Farm Arena.

Even with the Hawks briefly taking the lead in the third quarter, Atlanta could not gain home court momentum resulting in a 120-130 loss.

Trae Young captured his 24th double-double of the season with 37 points (13-14 FTs) and 11 assists, adding 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 block.

John Collins added 26 points (11-19 FGs, 3-5 3FGs), grabbed 7 boards, dished out 4 assists and blocked 3 shots. It is Collins’ 18th contest with 20-or-more points in 34 games played this season, and his 10th such game in the last 11 contests.

For the first time in rookie Bruno Fernando career  he recorded back-to-back double-figure games.

Defense was a major issue for the Hawks.

“I tried to mix it up with some zone but we just didn’t have the right mentality defensively in that third quarter. We just really never recovered from that whole second half defensively.” said Coach Lloyd Pierce.

“I don’t know that there’s a big takeaway. We just lost tonight. It sucks, because we had a lead and were playing well. They just got on a run. I don’t know if you can take too much. You just have to move on.” said Trae Young.
